The Visit of the Wise Men – This is a religious festival that celebrates the taking of power of the Varayoc. It is performed by a villager by passing down the highest authority to their successor with a staff that is silver-tipped. There will be two processions that will be held during the festival. By morning, the Images of Christ the Child and San Isidro the farmer are walked around the city. During the walk, tourist may find themselves some Cusco hostels. Then later in the afternoon, there will be a bullfight which is participated by various villagers and bulls.

The Carnavales in the Peruvian Highlands – this is one of the most joyful and cheerful festivals in all of Cusco. This even takes place during the month February.  There is a specific ritual that is performed during this festival. In this ritual, the villagers plant a huge tree in the center of their village or in a town square.  The celebration is cutting the tree down. This tree is full of gifts hanging on its branches. The Lord of Tremors – This festival is said to originate during the 1650’s. According to the devotees, the image of Christ of the Good Death hindered the destruction of Cusco from a tremendous earthquake that hit the city. Today, the people of Cusco now worship the image of Taitacha Tremors. This ceremony is performed inside the church of Cusco or also known as the Cathedral of Cusco. Corpus Christi – This festival is celebrated through out the whole of Peru, but it is much livelier in Cusco. In this celebration, fifteen saints and virgins is assembled into different processions. They will all come out from different places and then meet up in the Cathedral of Cusco. The message of the festival is that those saints and virgins will meet the “body” of Christ. Corpus Christi is one of the most colorful and historical festival that Cusco celebrates. Also, visitors and tourists may feel tired during the procession.
