  1. The Museo Inca is a great place to start your tour and studies of this fascinating culture. Situated in the Admirals Palace, the museum is one of the located in one of the most stunning colonial homes in all of Cisco. Here you will be introduced to true Incan culture, complete with mummies, artifacts, jewerlry, and even an exhibit that demonstrates Incan life and culture throughout the ages.

Mercado Central: Situated just to the west of the Plaza de Armas, is Cusco’s main market, a vibrant shopping area that gives tourists the opportunity to hear the native language of Quechua, taste local delicacies, buy hand made Andean goods and more.  The market is open everyday. Be sure to watch for pickpockets.
  3. San Blas: San Blas is the quaint and bohemian area just up the hill from the Plaza de Armas This pedestrian neighborhood is filled with artists and intellectuals of Cusco. It has a number of spunky shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Seriously, just the view overlooking Cusco is worth the steep hike.
  4. The Sacred Valley: This breathtaking valley sits just between Cusco and Machu Picchu. The river Wilka Mayu runs through it, starting at its high source in the Wilcanota Mountains and then streams down into the Urubamba River. The area is a great place for a day trip out of Cusco offering great hiking and views.
  5. Plaza de Armas: The main plaza in Cusco, the Plaza de Armas is not only the heart of the city, but also holds claim as being the location where the Spanish declared occupation of Cusco. The plaza has a number of great restaurants, the main Cathedral, and La Campania de Jesus, a beautiful baroque-style church.
